Beets are one of the best liver cleansing foods (right up there with dandelion), as they contain a natural substance called betaine, which helps the liver cells get rid of toxins. Betaine also helps to defend the liver and bile ducts, which are important for proper liver function.
If you are new to juicing, you may want to start with 1 beet, and work your way up to 2 and then 3 beets per juice. They work powerfully and can trigger digestive upset in those who aren’t used to their intense detoxing properties!
Liver-Healing Juice Recipe
- 3 beets, peeled
- 3 large carrots
- 1 bunch parsley
- 2 apples
- 1 lemon, peeled
- 3 inches ginger root
- 2 inches turmeric root
Method:
Run all of the above ingredients through a juicer, and enjoy immediately for optimal effect!
