For years, a mother, whose daughter was kidnapped and later murdered by a Mexican drug cartel, tirelessly pursued and tracked down her child's abductors. This mission proved to be extremely dangerous and ultimately fatal.

It resembled the 2008 film Taken, but in real life, with a mother as the protagonist instead of Liam Neeson.

When her 20-year-old daughter, Karen Alejandra Salinas Rodríguez, disappeared, Miriam Rodriguez embarked on a harrowing yet powerful quest. She soon faced ransom demands from her daughter's captors, who sought money for her release.

However, the young woman was never returned to safety. In 2014, her remains were discovered on a deserted ranch.

Initially, Miriam approached a gang member to negotiate her daughter's safe return. He claimed she was not held by his cartel, but offered assistance in the search for a price.

How did she succeed?

Miriam charged the charge, but by chance, while conversing, she heard his name, Sama, mentioned on the radio.

Armed with this new information, Miriam's quest officially began. She initiated her search on social media, scouring for his name and any details about him.

In Ciudad Victoria, two hours away, she zeroed in on a familiar profile and pinpointed his location at an ice cream store.

The 56-year-old woman, driven by desperation, is said to have surveilled the ice cream shop for weeks until the correct man appeared. She followed Sama to his home, feigning to be an election official, to gather more information while subtly interrogating his neighbors.

Miriam then began tracking others implicated in her daughter's murder, altering her appearance and identity to infiltrate the Zeta cartel more effectively. She underwent transformations reminiscent of those seen in top-tier Hollywood films.

This courageous mother even dared to aim a pistol at a mafia member, warning him, ‘If you move, I’ll shoot.’ She trapped the man in an alley while doing so.

Miriam accomplished an incredible feat; she rounded up nearly all those responsible for her daughter's death. Without hesitation, she handed them over to the police. In total, 10 members of the Zeta cartel were arrested.

However, Miriam's quest to avenge her daughter's death led to her own demise. She was shot 12 times outside her home on Mother’s Day in 2017, adding to the tragedy.
