Yoda is a cat born with a unique birth defect: two extra ears, adding to his charm. People adore cats, and it's unnecessary to enumerate the countless reasons why. These incredibly cute, beautiful, quirky, and irresistible creatures can instantly uplift anyone's day.
Cats are fantastic pets, and their owners delight in sharing numerous photos and videos, showcasing their affection for them to the world.
You've likely encountered many cats, but Yoda is truly one-of-a-kind! Introducing Yoda, the cat whose appearance and demeanor are unlike any other you've encountered.
Yoda was born with an unusual birth defect, possessing four ears. However, this has not impacted him negatively; instead, it has catapulted him to internet fame!
In 2006, Valerie and Ted Rock adopted a rare cat with two extra ears and, likely being Star Wars enthusiasts, they named him Yoda. Indeed, he bears a resemblance to a fictional character. There are claims that George Lucas owned a cat named Yoda, which inspired the name of the iconic movie character. The tale of this distinctive cat has re-emerged, captivating hearts just as it did when it first gained online fame over ten years ago.
Valerie explained:
“We were at a pub on the south side of Chicago with a group of friends when we noticed a small cage sitting on the bar and people passing around a kitten. He had been part of a large litter and the owners were looking to find a home for him. Ted and I had just lost a cat that was our pet for over 20 years, and we were sure we were done with cats.”
However, this was not the case:
“When he was passed around he reached for Ted, crawled up into the crook of his neck, and fell asleep – Ted was a goner. It was a done deal when the kitten made himself at home on Ted’s shoulder.”
The rest is history! Yoda is one lucky cat, and the family was more than happy to welcome him!
After adopting Yoda, his new family took him to the vet to ensure his condition wouldn't affect his quality of life. It was during this visit they discovered just how unique their new pet was:
“We've consulted with other veterinarians we know, and they too had never seen anything like it.
It became clear to us that we had stumbled upon something extraordinary.
Therefore, Yoda has remained an indoor cat, and we've had a microchip implanted in case he ever gets lost. Given Yoda's distinctiveness, we were worried he might be stolen.”
The vets confirmed that Yoda's additional pair of ears doesn't impact his hearing since they aren't connected to the base of his skull, with one ear set slightly behind the other.
Yoda's family describes him as a perfectly normal cat who is affectionate, social, and curious, with a peculiar fascination for bread.
Yoda is indeed an exceptionally adorable and endearing cat!
