A 12-year-old prodigy is poised to study Aerospace Engineering at Georgia Tech

A tween prodigy is poised to make history as the youngest student ever to study aerospace engineering at Georgia Tech. From birth, a boy from Marietta, Georgia, has behaved quite differently from his peers. Now, at just 12 years old, he's on the brink of historical achievement.

Earlier this month, Caleb Anderson, the 12-year-old in question, met with the university's president and is anticipated to be admitted to the esteemed Georgia Tech this coming fall. The boy's advanced knowledge and remarkable capacity for learning and retaining complex information have astounded the administrators.

Claire Anderson, the mother of the prodigy, has acknowledged:

“I don’t think anything Caleb has done has been normal for us.”

At just four weeks old, Caleb began imitating his mother's speech patterns. By nine months, he could communicate over 250 words through American Sign Language. At two years old, he was reading the Constitution, and by three, he had been accepted into MENSA. Caleb is fluent in English, Spanish, French, and Mandarin. Despite his abilities, he remains humble, claiming he isn't truly smart but simply able to "grasp information quickly." He humorously added:

“I have this distinct memory of going to a first-grade class and learning there, and everyone was way taller than me because I was two -- I could barely walk.”

Caleb quickly advanced to middle school but encountered challenges with his teenage peers. He felt they looked down on him and treated him as an "anomaly."

Completing high school at 11, he has spent the past year studying aerospace engineering at Chattahoochee Technical College. With aspirations to attend Georgia Tech, Caleb has already visited their labs and met with President Angel Cabrera.

Professor Mark Costello, head of Georgia Tech's School of Aerospace Engineering, believes Caleb is "the perfect candidate" for their program and will likely excel.

Caleb is aiming for an internship with Tesla's founder, Elon Musk.

This fall, he plans to transfer from Chattahoochee Technical College to Georgia Tech.

His parents are looking forward to the holistic college experience at Georgia Tech.
Yet, they also stress the importance of other lessons outside of the classroom:

“We want to make sure that when he is an adult, he’ll make a great husband, a great father, a great friend.”

Caleb speaks four languages and hopes to go on to attain an internship with Elon Musk

His mother claims they now teach him other lessons: ‘We can teach him about compassion, kindness, and looking for good in others’

Caleb's mother, Claire, holds a Master's degree in Education, and his father, Kobi, is an IT salesman. Unlike many parents, they find themselves unable to assist their son with his homework anymore.

Claire stated:

”Both of us are not rocket scientists. We had to learn there are other things that we can teach him about compassion, kindness, and looking for good in others.”

Caleb's parents, Kobi and Claire, emphasize the significance of learning life lessons beyond the classroom.
