Dehydration happens when our bodies lose more water than we're consuming. The water exiting our cells and bodies exceeds the amount we ingest by drinking. To prevent dehydration, it's often as simple as increasing fluid intake.
Indeed, consuming more liquids throughout the day helps maintain proper hydration and keeps cells functioning optimally.
Signs of dehydration may include:
- Intense thirst
- Hollow eyes
- Red, sore, and dry eyes
- Low blood pressure
- A dry, sticky mouth
- Tiredness
- Parched skin
- Constipation
- Dark yellow urine
- Muscle cramps
- Headaches or migraines
- Lightheadedness
Preventing dehydration isn't overly difficult, and certain juices can aid in faster recovery and better water absorption. Pineapple, cucumber, and celery are key plant-based foods that help boost hydration levels in the body.
Enzymes in pineapple aid in removing dead and damaged skin cells while enhancing skin elasticity and hydration. Cucumber, being predominantly water, is an excellent choice for hydration, particularly when juiced. Celery, also rich in water, contains natural salts that help replenish minerals in dehydrated cells.
