Plaque formation process:
HOW TO ADDRESS IT
The initial step is to properly care for your teeth and gums. Below are the tooth brushing fundamentals according to the American Dental Association (ADA):
– Brush your teeth twice a day. Ensure you do a comprehensive job and don't hurry.
– Utilize the right equipment. Opt for a quality toothpaste and a soft-bristled toothbrush. Battery-powered and electric toothbrushes can be more effective than manual ones in reducing plaque and mild gum disease.
– Employ the correct technique. Angle the toothbrush slightly towards the point where the tooth meets the gum line. Brush the chewing surfaces, the inside and outside of the teeth, and the tongue.
– Take care of your equipment. Rinse and store your toothbrush upright after use. Avoid covering the brush, as it can promote bacterial growth.
– Change your brush regularly. Replace your toothbrush every three to four months or when the bristles become worn.

Some individuals, myself included, prefer natural methods for certain aspects of oral hygiene. For instance, you can create your own mouthwash and toothpaste at home!
Making homemade mouthwash is straightforward and effective. Plus, it doesn't contain the alcohol and chemicals found in commercial products.

Here are four easy recipes for DIY oral care products. These ingredients are readily available, affordable, and beneficial for health.
They also aid in removing tartar and bacteria from the mouth. Let's begin!
THESE BLENDS EFFECTIVELY ELIMINATE PLAQUE FROM YOUR TEETH
RECIPE #1
Ingredients: anise, mint oil, lemon, water.
In a glass of water, mix a few drops of each ingredient and rinse your mouth 4-5 times daily.
RECIPE #2 (IDEAL FOR BUILT-UP PLAQUE)
Ingredients: ½ cup of rosemary, 1 cup of fresh mint, 2 cups of water.
Boil the water, then add the mint and rosemary. Let the mixture steep for about 15 minutes before straining. Once cool, use it to rinse your mouth thoroughly.
RECIPE #3 (NATURAL TOOTHPASTE; EFFECTIVE FOR PLAQUE REMOVAL)
Ingredients: 7 tablespoons (tbsp.) of coconut oil, 7 tbsp. of baking soda, essential oils (tea tree oil and clove essential oil are recommended), 1 ½ tbsp. of Stevia.
A 2014 study found that essential oils effectively inhibit plaque, are compatible with dental implants, and also counteract certain problematic bacterial strains. Additionally, the aroma of lavender oil has been found to reduce anxiety and stress.
Combine all ingredients until the mixture achieves a uniform texture. Use this natural blend daily as an alternative to regular toothpaste, if you wish.

Oral health experts praise coconut oil for its multiple benefits, such as combating bacteria, cleansing the mouth, preventing cavities, and teeth whitening.
Swirl a couple of tablespoons of coconut oil in your mouth and let it dissolve for 15-20 minutes. Use coconut oil as a daily rinse to enhance and sustain oral hygiene.
